ADD and ADHD are similar disorders for
which both these terms are frequently used. ADD stands for Attention Deficit Disorder and ADHD stands for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity
Disorder.
Variations in their phrasing help to
differentiate the condition better. The major difference between ADD and ADHD is individuals detected with ADD are
usually forgetful, lack concentration and think slowly. However, individuals
with ADHD tend to be more hyperactive and display an impulsive behavior, such
as the inability to sit still, interruptive and keen to give reply even when
not asked for it.
Individuals may experience ADD and ADHD
at any point in life. However, it is most diagnosed during early days when
children have a problem in concentrating at school. Kids diagnosed with this
disorder may have a problem in remembering tasks, forgetting homework,
daydreaming and inability to memorize tasks. A psychiatrist may deal better
with the issue and let parents know whether it’s ADD or any other learning
disorder.
